I have had my first proper go at using Adobe After Effects. I wanted to have a news ticker flowing across the bottom of the screen.
I am pleased with my first outcome, as I have learnt about using keyframes, and how we can animate text to look like it is moving.

Test Shoots with Danielle:
I asked Danielle if she wouldn't mind me filming her giving her own opinion of gypsies (or chavs, as she likes to call them!). She has had her own experience of gypsies, and has quite an opinion! This is totally unscripted and natural, and it was also planned to help her feel at ease in front of a camera.

News Logos:
Our news broadcast will need a logo, so I have been looking at the logos used on our channels here in the UK, to try to get an idea of something I can use for 'Wilby News'.
BBC News use an interesting graphic of a globe, which is eye-catching, and use their regular red box for the name of the programme. Again, they have used red, which draws the viewer to the broadcast, particularly if they are flicking through channels.
Channel 4 News uses a combination of pinks and purples for its logos. The actual news broadcasts tend to use purples on the set, which is another eye-catching colour. These rich, deep colours seem to be more popular than pastel colours.
Newsround, a news programme made for children, uses Purple and green, with a blue background for its logo. I feel that this is the most eye-catching of all the logos, but then it is designed for children, who are drawn to bright colours.
Sky News have chosen red, which again, is the colour our eyes are naturally drawn to. This logo is simple and slim, enabling it to fit easily on the screen during broadcasts.
ITV have chosen to use blue for their logo, which differs from any of the other logos. This logo is one that sticks in my mind, possibly because of the large lettering, and that the blue only outlines the letters. This could, however, be invasive on a screen.

BBC World News uses a very simple design, which combines the well known BBC logo with a red background. Red is the first colour anyone sees when they look at an image, as the eye is naturally drawn to it.

Logo Designs:
I have never used Adobe Illustrator before, so I thought I would have a play around to familiarise myself with the software and the tools. I experimented with the shape tool, and had a look at some fonts.

These are the little logos I managed to make. They are nothing special, and I will probably have to watch some YouTube videos to get myself used to the software, and to learn how to make something a bit more exciting.

Briefing Danielle on Dale Farm:
I have put together a small document of information about Dale Farm for Danielle to read. I have also added a number of photographs, as I feel these explain the situation perhaps better than a paragraph of writing may.
I have asked Danielle two questions at the end, both of which she has now answered. This was designed to help her understand the story a little better, and for me to write a script that includes her own opinions.
